Lesson 8 of 13 · Module 3: Script and Produce
Batch Record Talking-Head and Screen Capture Footage
Record legible screen-capture footage for one lesson’s demonstration, and batch-record talking-head takes for at least 3 lessons in a single sitting.
FILMING 4 YOUTUBE VIDEOS IN 3 HOURS! How I batch film YouTube videos on one day every month
strong direct match. Real batch session, one setup, multiple pieces of content recorded back to back, under the length target, from a content-creation coach rather than an income-hype channel.
Objective
Why This Matters
The reason most course creators never ship past lesson one isn’t a skill gap, it’s production friction. Setting up lights, framing, and audio fresh for every single lesson turns a 13-lesson course into 13 separate production days, and most people quit around lesson 3. Batching the setup once and running multiple scripts through it back-to-back is the single biggest efficiency lever in this entire track, and it costs nothing but planning ahead.
The Technique
Screen capture basics: record at a resolution that keeps on-screen text readable when compressed for the platform you’ll use, move the cursor deliberately and pause on the thing you want the viewer to look at instead of sweeping across the screen, and zoom in on small text or UI elements rather than assuming the viewer can read them at normal scale.
Batch discipline is the real skill here. Write and lightly rehearse every script before you touch record, not one at a time as you go. Set up lighting, framing, and audio exactly once. Record all talking-head takes back to back in that single setup, changing nothing between lessons, not the light, not the camera position, not the mic. If a take fails, mark it as an outtake and move to the next lesson rather than stopping to fix or perfect it, come back to reshoots at the end of the batch, not mid-flow.
Log outtakes as you go (lesson number, take number, what went wrong) so you know exactly what needs a reshoot without re-watching everything afterward.
Watch For This
Good
- Screen capture text is readable without pausing or zooming the viewer’s own player.
- Three-plus talking-head takes recorded in one sitting, same setup visible across all of them, no visible lighting or framing shift lesson to lesson.
- Outtakes logged by lesson and take number in real time, not reconstructed afterward from memory.
Classic Failure
- Screen recording swept the cursor around too fast to follow, or key text is too small to read on playback.
- Lighting or camera position visibly shifts between lessons because setup got adjusted “just a little” partway through the batch.
- No script prepared in advance for later lessons in the batch, so recording stalls mid-session while material gets written on the fly.
Your Drill
Pick one lesson from your course that needs a screen demonstration and record legible screen-capture footage matching its Technique section. Then batch-record talking-head footage for at least 3 lessons in one sitting: scripts written in advance, one setup, no adjustments between lessons, outtakes logged as you go.

Pass Checklist
Lesson complete
Criterion met: Screen capture is legible (on-screen text readable, cursor movement smooth, not frantic) and matches the technique it demonstrates; the batch session produces 3 usable talking-head takes recorded back-to-back with the same lighting, framing, and audio setup unchanged across all 3, each one passing the Lesson 7 criterion.

Noted.
Coach Note
The urge to “just quickly fix the light” between lesson 1 and lesson 2 of a batch is the exact urge that turns one production session into three. If lesson 2’s light looks slightly off, note it as an outtake reason and keep going. Fix it once, at the start of your next batch, not mid-session.
