Objective

Why This Matters

Every lesson in this entire track has been built with a real pass checklist, not a vague sense of “good enough.” Now that discipline gets pointed at you, the course creator, being graded by an actual learner. Generic feedback (“it was great, thanks!”) is worthless because it can’t be acted on. Feedback tied to a specific checkpoint (did the drill’s pass bar make sense, where exactly did they get stuck) is what actually makes the next version better, and it’s the entire reason Lesson 13 requires you to collect it, not just ship and hope.

The Technique

Keep it to 3 questions or fewer, tied to specific checkpoints, not sentiment. “How did lesson 1 feel overall” produces mush. “Could you tell from the pass checklist whether your drill submission passed or failed, before I told you” produces something you can act on.

Time it to a real moment: send the check-in right after the learner finishes the first lesson or first drill, not at the end of the whole course when memory of the specific sticking point has already faded.

Capture responses verbatim, exactly as they were written or said, not paraphrased from memory an hour later. The exact wording often contains the actual problem; a summary tends to smooth it into something vaguer and less useful.

Close the loop by translating at least one response into one specific, named change you’ll make, written down. Feedback that doesn’t produce a change wasn’t actually collected, it was just filed.

Watch For This

Good

  • “Question: could you tell from the checklist alone whether your submission passed? Response: ‘Mostly, but I wasn’t sure what counted as clean audio until I heard your example.’ Change: add a short audio clip as the good/bad reference.”
  • Feedback sent right after a specific checkpoint, not batched to the end of the course.
  • Response logged word for word, with one specific change identified from it.

Classic Failure

  • “How did you like the course?” sent after the whole thing is done, producing a friendly, unusable summary.
  • Feedback paraphrased from memory a day later instead of logged verbatim in the moment.
  • Feedback collected and filed away with no specific change identified as a result.

Your Drill

Build a short check-in (3 questions or fewer) tied to a specific lesson or drill checkpoint in your mini-course. Send it to your Lesson 11 committed learner right after they complete that checkpoint. Log their actual response verbatim and write down one specific change you’ll make because of it.
